Description SHIFT: Days (rotating weekends) SCHEDULE: Full-time SIGN ON BONUS / RELOCATION BONUS AVAILABLE TO THOSE EXPERIENCED OR CIRCULATORS St. David's North Austin Medical Center is part of St. David's HealthCare, one of the largest health systems in Texas, which was recognized with a Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award in 2014. The 378-bed multi-specialty, acute care facility is dedicated to the highest level of health services. The facility also features a 24-hour emergency department, the Texas Institute for Robotic Surgery, the Bariatric Center, heart and vascular center, neurology and neurosurgery, a kidney transplant program, inpatient and outpatient surgery.St. David's North Austin Medical Center is also home to St. David's Children's Hospital. Are you interested in joining a dynamic surgical services team? Do you have a desire to be cross trained in multiple surgery modalities? OR nurses are required to have excellent communication skills to help them communicate effectively with doctors, patients, and other staff members. Tension runs high in the operating room at times. Nurses need to speak calmly and professionally while others are angry or upset. The circulating nurse acts as the patient advocate while the patient is under the influence of anesthesia. Do you have this skill set? We would like to speak with those few that do have these very special qualities. North Austin Medical Center OR is a 13 suite OR with the focus on quality outcomes. The OR team cross trains in all surgical procedures including but not limited to: Robotics, kidney transplant, general surgery, urology, plastics, ENT, Bariatrics, Ortho and Neuro. Qualifications KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES The St. David's Surgical Services RN ensures all nursing care provided meets the standard of care. They demonstrate knowledge of national patient safety goals, hospital core measures, performance improvement processes and service excellence quality initiatives. The SDHRN is knowledgeable of all policies and practices relative to the role and duty performed. The SDHRN demonstrates at minimum, basic computer skills related to the role and care of the patient. Must be able to demonstrate understanding of national patient safety initiatives by strict compliance to all safety protocols and procedures as required by both HCA and St. David's North Austin Medical Center. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Required: Graduate from an accredited nursing program or current enrollment in an Alternative Entry MSN program Preferred: Bachelor's Degree; minimum of 1 year experience in Staff RN role and charge experience LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES Required: Texas RN License or a Compact RN license from a NCLA Compact State; BCLS Certification Preferred: Previous experience in clinical nursing; ACLS certification
